Little Miss Sunshine

Natalee, Trent, and I read books every night before bed. They love picture books. They also have some new favorites. Uncle Brad gave each of them the "Little Miss" and "Little Mr." books for Christmas. Natalee has enjoyed reading ALL of her books. Her favorite is Little Miss Sunshine. I found a t-shirt with "Little Miss Sunshine" on it and I had to buy it for "MY" little miss sunshine.

"I Help Water 'Plowers' Mama"

Trent is 2 and he is such a talker if you get to know him. At first he is quiet, but it doesn't take long for him to open up. He talks real good except for one letter. He uses the "p" sound because he is yet to say the "f" sound correctly.

So, for him...feet is peet....frog is prog....fish is pish......food is pood.....finger is pinger......and flowers is plowers.

Here, he is supposed to be helping me water flowers, but he is trying to wet me instead. Probably because I wet him a few minutes before!

Jacksonville Zoo

We took Natalee and Trent to the zoo this past weekend. Trent's favorites were the birds and snakes. We would pick him up to look in a display case for a snake and he would ask, "Where's it at?" He wasn't scared of them. Natalee liked to watch the monkeys play. She said, "They are so cute!" Both of them enjoyed riding the carousel and feeding the giraffe as pictured here.

My Mother's Day

On the Friday before Mother's Day I was invited to breakfast with Trent and "tea" with Natalee. At Trent's daycare, we shared a breakfast of cinnamon rolls and an orange. He gave me a card and some "sugar". If you don't know him, he's pretty stingy with that sugar, so I felt pretty special when he gave me a kiss.

At Natalee's Pre-k, the children sang songs about their mothers and then we all enjoyed sugar cookies and punch. Natalee gave me a flower, a drawing of me, and a card. Natalee is pictured with her friend Zayne.

On Sunday, Nathan had a card waiting for me in my seat as we loaded up to go to church. He thanked me for being a great mom for our kids. How sweet!

Model Airplanes

Instead of our usual Sunday afternoon cat-nap this weekend, we decided to go watch an "air show". We rode to a field just outside of Patterson and watched some model airplanes being flown. There was a group of about 6 grown men out there and each one had his own plane - big boys with toys! The model airplanes were very neat - the men had them painted and decorated so that they looked very real. Trent asked me, "I ride, mama?" Natalee wanted to ride one too. They didn't understand that these model airplanes were too small to carry them. Stacey's husband, Jay, flew his plane on Sunday. It was the fastest one out there! Natalee and Trent are pictured here standing in front of Jay's plane.

Swim Time at Aunt Bridgett's

Why is it that the water in a pool can be freezing, but kids still want to swim anyway? Aunt Bridgett's pool was looking clear and inviting on Saturday, but the water was too cold for me. Natalee jumped right in and had a good time swimming with some friends from church. Trent preferred to get the water hose and spray all of the girls!

We love Lemon Cookies

Here is a picture of us girls at Stacey's wedding a couple of weekends ago. We are sinking our teeth into our favorite treat - lemon cookies! We have always loved these lemon cookies that my mom makes. She made a batch especially for Stacey on her special day. These cookies go way back for all of us - I used to make them and give them to my friends every year at Christmas. Sometimes, I think that is the only reason they liked me - just for the cookies! JK : )
